Redmi 5A "DESH KA SMARTPHONE" comes as a successor to Redmi 4A launched in this year March. According to Xiaomi they have sold 4 million unit's in just 8 months that's a huge number. But does the Xiaomi Redmi 5A justifies as a successor to the popular Xiaomi Redmi 4A.? Lets just dig into it..!!
Redmi 4A was an entry level phone at the price of 5,999 INR it was the best device at that price range but the Redmi 5A is launch at a price of 4,999 INR for the base variant which has 2GB of RAM and 16GB of onboard storage and 6,999 for the variant which has 3GB of RAM and 32 GB of onboard storage. Xiaomi is been good in this budget line segment and they leaders in this price bracket as, top 3 smartphone in Q3 of 2017 are all Xiaomi phones which are Redmi note 4, Redmi 4 and Redmi 4A.
Redmi 5A as a successor doesn't have a lot of changes from the Redmi 4A in terms of specs though the Redmi 4A was just launched in 1 variant the Redmi 5A is been launched in 2 variant

Design and build:-
The redmi 5A is light weight mainly because Xiaomi choose to go with a plastic back instead of metal back. The back is been given a metalic look by a paint job so it doesn't feel as premium as a metal but looks good because of the paint.
Now talking about the placement to the front at top we have the sensors, earpiece, and a 5MP selfie camera followed by the 5inch HD display which is bright enough and over saturated then we have capacitive keys which are not backlit.
At the back up top we have the 13MP camera followed by Mi logo and then we have the speakers at the bottom. The primary micro-phone and the USB-port reside at the bottom. We have the 3.5mm headphone jack secondary noise cancellation micro-phone abd the IR blaster at the top. To the left we get two trays one which can take a sim and a MicroSD card and then the second which can take a sim that's nice since everyone is using jio sim as a secondary sim in India. To the right we have the volume rockers abd the power key.

Performance:-
The Redmi 5A is powered by the Snapdragon 425 which is an excellent chip compare to MediaTek 6737 it can perform day to day task easily and can handle games at medium setting with no problem. The Redmi 5A has seen nearly a 120mah decrease in the battery capacity mainly due to inclusion of the secondary sim tray which is not present in the Redmi 4A. The 3000mah can last for a day easily in medium usage and because of MIUI 9 optimization
Availability and launch offer:-
The first 5 million device would be sold at a subsidy price of 4,999 this would definitely lead to huge demand of this device when it goes on sale on Flipkart on 7 December Xiaomi is definitely pushing its "desh ka smartphone" to sell in numbers also the company has partnered with jio and its giving 1000 INR cash back if you recharge for 199 INR for consecutive 12 months which is a special plan for Redmi 5A users who would get 1GB per day data, unlimited calls and 100SMS for a validity of 28 days you would get 1000 rs cash back as jio voucher which you can use in your next recharge after 12 months that reduces the effective price to 3,999 which is an awesome deal for the device.
"Desh ka smartphone" really?:-
Though Xiaomi is just using it to make a hype for the device but looking at the effective price of the device which is 3,999 the smartphone is one of the best there is absolutely no competitors for this price segment and the one which is there it is Xiaomi owns Redmi 4A at the price 5,999 so definitely the Redmi 5A allegedly called as Desh ka smartphone is worth the price if you are looking for a new device at this price range because its not a worthy upgrade from Redmi 4A.
Getting hands on the desh ka smartphone would be really tough looking at the price and the deals the flash sales would definitely last for only a second's and getting one Redmi 5A can definitely annoy you..
